该片以解放战争前夕的赤城县为背景，共产党和国民党围绕一幅军事藏火图引发了无数曲折的故事。该剧主人公是生活在赤城的德高望重的孟三爷，在一个偶然机会得到一张军事藏火图，由此展开了一连串惊险刺激的经历。共产党地下党与国民党特务队为争夺宝图进行了巧妙周旋。。Chris McCormick (Margaux Hemingway), a high fashion and cosmetics model is brutally raped by her younger sister’s music teacher, Gordon Stuart (Sarandon).
