洛阳，富甲一方的顾家当家主事顾老爷和顾夫人突然失踪，只留下四个女儿，以顾家二叔为代表的旁支和顾家四女儿围绕着顾家财权展开了斗争。顾二叔与顾家的竞争对手李家结盟，以各种理由逼嫁顾家长女顾若若，让她嫁给李家次子李丛，失去顾家的继承权。顾若若在三姐妹的帮助下，用各种手段挫败了顾二叔的阴谋，最终与李家长子李客结成同盟。两人以两头婚的方式挫败了各自家族旁支的阴谋，并在这种对抗和同盟的关系中，越走越近，终成眷属。。In this bitingly satirical film Peter Slovan, a continuous source of trouble for the film functionaries of the socialist Slovakia, tackles an evergreen topic – the corruptive effects of power. Barnabáš Kos, a triangle player at a symphonic orchestra, is suddenly promoted to serve as the head of the said institution, even though both he and his superiors deem him completely unfit for the task. Encouraged in equal parts by this unexpected recognition and the servile praise of his colleagues, Kos’s modesty starts to gradually vanish. The erstwhile bashful and aloof percussionist quickly becomes aware of the advantages of his new office, and begins to realise his increasingly ludicrous artistic ambitions. Ultimately, the submissive marionette turns into a source of public humiliation, and his astonishing career finds an abrupt end. Orchestra serves here as a microcosm that grotesquely reflects the absurd and tragicomic mechanisms of the paranoid apparatus of power.
