1994年, 大陆作曲家鲍元恺受台湾省交响乐团陈澄雄的邀请，到花莲参加研讨会。从那时开始，他先后十次到访台湾，并在台湾任教11年，其间写出了八章交响组曲《台湾音画》。《听见台湾》这部电影，讲述了鲍元恺创作《台湾音画》的经历，它们包括《玉山日出》《安平怀古》《宜兰童谣》《恒春乡愁》《泰雅情歌》《鹿港庙会》《龙山晚钟》《达邦节日》，以音乐的形式，展现宝岛风土人情。《台湾音画》被形容为“四百年来最美丽的音缘”，有人赞美鲍元恺“比台湾人还台湾”。。Inspired by W.G.
